I Wish…

July 25th, 2008

Today we created a “class collaboration” poem around the idea of “I wish…”

Each student wrote a line which had to include a fictional character’s name, a city or country and a colour.

Our audio engineer students (well done BJ, Jiya, Zoe and particularly Liam and Jack) then recorded the lines being read by each student and mixed in some soundtrack music and loops. A big day of work, well done to all of you - you all worked really hard. *YAWN* Don’t know about you kids, but I’m having a nap before the Grand Final Preview.

The I WISH… podcast is HERE!

Mixcraft - Our first “podcast”

July 18th, 2008

(Download Podcast At The Bottom of This Post)

Hi. It’s Jiya here with another blog - and a podcast

This week we have been making a class song in Mixcraft and this is the way we did it. We clicked on the program Mixcraft and then clicked on library which is on the bottom of the screen. And in there is a whole heap of of diffrent styles and musical instruments. One of the styles we used was Techno. We chose some loops and we also recorded a poem that one of my classmates wrote. This poem is called This Is Just To Say, a famous poem by William Carlos Williams, that Mr G had us all work off it. Each table had a go, adding and making different parts of the podcast. This is our first song so please stay in touch for more.

That’s all for me. Talk to you later. Bye

Prime Rhyme Slime Sentences

June 26th, 2008  Tagged

Fill in the holidays by making some rhyme slime!

Use a rhyming dictionary to make a rhyming sentence.

Here’s my effort (my word was “blue”):

The Blue Cashew Stew
Phew! Who knew (or had a clue) that this blue cashew stew he threw on a few in the guru queue, which then flew like a voodoo corkscrew - or two - onto the new barbeque, would taste like glue and smell like …?

Your Turn:
Choose a word
then put it into the search in the rhyming dictionaries:

  1. Poetry4Kids - Rhyming Dictionary
  2. Rhymer - Rhyming Dictionary

Add yours as a comment. Add a title, if you can. Tell us which word you looked up.

Click “comment” below. Read what other people have entered, comment on theirs. Remember, no last names.

I hope everyone’s having a gormet holiday, away.

‘ave your say!

Vote in the poll.

After you vote, you must add a comment to the blog. Comment should explain why you voted the way you did. Really good comments will give advantages and disadvantages for some of the other options.

Mr Gamble thinks we’re kool!

June 18th, 2008

It’s Jiya and Declan again with another blog.

Today we had a talk about why Mr Gamble thinks we are capable of doing things. Thats why we’re doing podcasting and blogging. On the first day of school Mr Gamble’s first impression of us was that we were willing to have a go at anything (even his funny yoga stretches). Then along came some extra activities such as Water Safety, Wilson’s Prom Camp and The Radio Show and then that’s when we proved to Mr Gamble that we were willing to have a go at anything. Now we want you to sent us some comments about when one of the 6Bers you know was willing to have a go.

Thats all we have now. We will be back next week. Bye!

Our class discussion on podcasting!

June 10th, 2008

Hi this is Jiya and Declan reporting from Rosebud Primary school on our class discussion on podcasting.

Today in class we had a discussion about podcasting. Our teacher Mr Gamble went to the city to learn more about podcasting and computers. Because we have began blogging and loving it. Mr Gamble got $2,000 to get eigher 4 laptops or 20 mp3 players, or anything else to do with podcasting or computers.

In the third and fourth terms we will be starting podcasting and will have some full-on awesome shows and talks. We will put our amazing poems and circle stories in our talks to make our talks more interesting.

Can you send a comment with what you think Mr Gamble should get. He would like to see what you think.

That is all from us bye.

Techo Teacher Conference

June 5th, 2008

Kids, look how busy I’ve been on the conference! Another teacher and I made this movie, aren’t we clever!

Click here if the video is blocked (to download it).

Two bits of Work:

1. Write a story that uses this video as inspiration. IT CAN BE ANYTHING YOU WANT (about the fox, the song, teachers doing conferences). It might be funny…

Write it, then post it as a comment to this blog post. Take turns on the middle room, or you can check if the computer room is free and ask your sub teacher to take you there to do it. Once you’ve posted, you can comment on other people’s stories. You could use their story as a prompt or inspiration.

2. Use your maths scrapbook to create an “I CAN DO MATHS” - subtraction strategies. 1 double page of strategies, just like we did with addition. Spend 1/2hr individually working on it, then share, then work some more. See how many different strategies you can get. Which ones are best? Why?

If your sub teacher lets thinks you’ve done an awesome job, you may post some of your strategies to the blog!

Have fun kids.

The Beginning

June 1st, 2008

Hello World!

This is 6B’s birth into the cyber-world. Our digital baby!

We are about to begin a wonderful adventure as we start podcasting some of our POETRY and other creative writing. Our little infant (had enough of that image?!) will grow as we work through this project, as we record our journey.

Each week we’ll post how we are going. It will include pictures and eventually this’ll be the spot where our podcasts will exist. Yay.

Now to meet us:

Kids:

  1. Using MSWord write about our podcasting:
    • What will be good about creating and publishing podcasts? What are you looking forward to?
    • What fears do you have about podcasting or blogging?
    • What ideas do you have for podcasting?
    • This blog will be part of the project - any ideas for the blog? Does it have to just be about the project?
  2. Spell Check, Proof-read your work - This is going out into the world, with your name on it!
  3. Click Comment at the bottom of this page.
  4. Copy and Paste your writing into the comment box.
  5. Write your first name only in the name box.
  6. Write kid@test.com for email.
  7. Click submit.

Your post then goes to me. I check it, then allow it to be published.

Most interesting/thoughtful poster gets to be first blogger.

Visit the class website when you’re finished.

See you tomorrow, Mr Gamble.
